Lakecia Gunter is the Technical Assistant and Chief of Staff for the Corporate Vice President of Intel Labs. Intel Labs is the company’s world-class, industry leading research organization, responsible for driving Intel’s technology pipeline and creating new opportunities. In this role, she assists the Vice President and his staff in setting the agenda and establishing technology priorities for both Intel Labs and the company. She is also responsible for all communications and related activities for Intel Labs.
Prior to her current position, Lakecia was the Validation, Emulation, and FIVR manager in the Platform Validation Engineering organization of the Intel Architecture group, where she was responsible for delivering Intel’s 4th Generation Core Processor, Haswell, to the marketplace. She joined Intel in 2008 as technical program manager for the Café RIT Generation tools team in the Platform Validation Engineering organization and became the manager of the team in 2009.
In 2012, Lakecia and her team were awarded the Intel Software Quality award for developing and delivering a high quality CPU functional validation tool, used to validate and ensure the overall quality of all microprocessor products produced by the corporation, the company’s highest software recognition.
In addition to her management responsibilities, Ms. Gunter promotes the volunteerism and the tenants of community service within the Intel and Oregon community. Lakecia served as President of Intel’s Network of African Americans employee group from 2009-2011. In this capacity she provided leadership to the Oregon chapter, represented NIA as spokesperson within Intel and the external community, and ensured the chapter executed the mission of making Intel a great place to work for employees of African descent through recruitment, Development, Retention and Cultural Awareness.
While serving as president of NIA, Lakecia led Intel’s Computer Clubhouse activities, facilitated career workshops for middle and high school girls, and delivered community outreach programs, such as, the “Meet Intel Rock Stars” as well as the “Martin Luther King Day of Service” program where over 50 students visit the Intel campus to gain exposure to the engineering career field. Her passion for math and engineering and commitment to increasing the pipeline of engineers and scientists is fully showcased as the founder and director of a non-profit organization to empower youth in the areas of confidence, self-esteem, and leadership skills and to expose them to STEM careers.
Her efforts in the engineering career field as well as in the community garnered her special recognition with her selection as a Technology Rising Star and as the recipient of the Educational Leadership Award from the Women of Color Magazine. In addition, she was selected as a Modern Day Technology Leader by US Black Engineer and Information Technology Magazine. She also received the Alumni on the Move award from the National Society of Black Engineers.
Lakecia earned a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from University of South Florida. Lakecia also earned her Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
